About Us

Where Have We Been?
On November 17th 1992, a group of eight people met at a home in the Charlottetown area to formalize the beginning of a Bible Study.  This group quickly grew and on August 29th, 1993 they constituted as a church and affiliated with the Canadian National Baptist Convention.  In October of 1995, Community Baptist Church started meeting in their newly constructed facilities at 162 Sherwood Road.

Since then, Community Baptist Church has been blessed with people from a variety of backgrounds.  Through outreach, Community has established a church in Halifax County called “Living Hope,” as well as a church in Montague called King’s Way Christian Fellowship.

Where Are We Going?
Community is striving to be a church that pleases God.  In the book of Acts, we see five things we must do well in order to fulfill Jesus Christ’s Great Commission:

Worship: We desire excellence in our lifestyle of worship, not because we want to put on a “good show” but because God deserves our best.

Fellowship: We enjoy being with one another and caring for one another, not just because of fun and food but because we are a spiritual family.

Discipleship: We desire to see the seekers, new believers, and mature Christians among us discover the ways of God through the Word of God, not simply to gain religious knowledge but to direct them in an ever-deepening relationship with their Creator.

Ministry: We desire to be sensitive to the needs and hurts around us and to minister to one another, not to be applauded for our efforts but to experience the joy of imitating Jesus through sacrificial service.

Missions: We desire to reach out with the good news of Christ’s love and forgiveness, not simply because we want to grow in numbers but because we love Jesus and want others to experience that same relationship.

We recognize that we have not reached our full potential in these 5 areas, but this is the vision we have set before us...to be a people who, above all, please God.

Join the Journey
At Community, we are on a journey...a journey to get to know God better and better. Jesus said that eternal life is knowing the only true God, and His Son, Jesus Christ.
“And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.”  John 17:3 (NLT)

We seek to be a place where the entire family can be part of this faith journey.  Throughout the week, “Discovery Groups” — Bible studies for all ages and all stages of spiritual maturity meet at the church and in homes around the Charlottetown area. Discovery Groups give us the opportunity to connect with each other and with God through His Word.  On Sundays at 10:30am we have our Worship Service with nursery and preschool childcare provided.  Children above the age of 8 join their parents for the 11:00am service where they are encouraged to actively participate and learn to worship.  On Sunday evenings at 7:00pm we often have an informal time of singing and sharing followed by an interactive Bible study.

There are many ways to be involved in what God is doing among His people at Community. Please feel free to contact the church office with any questions you may have.
